A documentary short film narrated by Jeremy Irons thanking Save Venice supporters and showcasing the beautiful places, people, and patrimony that make our preservation work essential.
Now more than ever, Venice reminds us of the power of art and beauty to unite and inspire us. On October 29, we invited our supporters to journey with us for “A Love Letter to Venice,” a virtual showcase highlighting Save Venice’s most awe-inspiring restorations. This special livestream event took place on the intended evening of the 2020 Un Ballo in Maschera in New York–Save Venice’s largest annual fundraiser.
Though we could not come together as intended for the ball, we were heartened to have hundreds of people from around the world tune in for the film’s live debut. When so many of us long to be in Venice, we hope that the “Love Letter” provided a welcome escape, if only virtually, to our beloved city.
We gratefully thank Jeremy Irons, who graciously donated his supreme talent to transport us to Venice and share the mission of Save Venice. We thank our partners, colleagues, and friends in Venice, including the conservators, curators, scholars, and students who shared their personal stories. Most of all though we thank you–the 2020 Ball patrons, restoration sponsors, advocates, and supporters who each contribute in a myriad of ways to the continued success of our preservation efforts in Venice.
With our deepest thanks, Save Venice recognizes the 2020 Un Ballo in Maschera donors listed below who maintained their support despite the event’s cancellation, providing essential funding for Save Venice to continue its important work. On behalf of all who care for Venice, grazie mille!
