March 2020 Special Message from the Chairman and Projects Director

Mar 17, 2020

Dear Friends,

We all are thinking of our friends and colleagues in Venice and throughout Italy during this challenging time caused by the coronavirus. For Venetians, this challenge comes on the heels of the November floods, from which local businesses and artisans had not yet recovered from the physical and financials losses. Through the Immediate Response Fund and our partnership with the Italian Embassy, we made a meaningful impact to provide artistic recovery relief from the flood damage, as described further in this newsletter.

In accordance with the current Italian government guidelines, the Venice office of Save Venice and the Rosand Library and Study Center are closed until further notice, and our Venice staff is working from home. The majority of our public conservation worksites are temporarily closed, although some conservators in private practice are able to continue their activities.

We are committed to protecting the welfare of all of our supporters, staff, contractors, vendors, and their families. In light of the growing health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, all Save Venice events through April 24 have been postponed. We will continue to monitor the situation and send further updates as the situation evolves.

From all of us at Save Venice, we send our best wishes to everyone impacted by the virus in Italy and around the world and urge you to take good care too.
