Paolo Veronese has never been seen to greater advantage than in the intimate church of San Sebastiano, which houses more important works by the great 16th-century painter in a single location than any other site in the world. Created between 1555 and 1570, Veronese’s creations include frescoes, wall paintings, altarpieces, canvases, and a painted wooden ceiling. Learn about Save Venice’s on-going campaign to restore Veronese’s decorative cycle.
Venice’s most important collection of Venetian paintings is found in the Gallerie dell’Accademia, which contains works spanning six centuries. Save Venice has funded the restoration of nearly two dozen of the Accademia’s paintings. Enjoy a tour featuring highlights of the Accademia Galleries and learn about Save Venice’s conservation projects within the museum. The publication Masterpieces Restored: The Gallerie dell’Accademia and Save Venice Inc. is available by contacting the Save Venice office at 212-737-4131.
