Annual Newsletters

Save Venice publishes an annual newsletter, which updates supporters on the status of current and completed projects with articles and images.

2023/2024 Newsletter

This newsletter highlights Save Venice’s recently completed campaigns including Mosaics in the church of San Donato on Murano, the Italian Synagogue in the Jewish Ghetto of Venice, and the Beata Vergine delle Grazie Altar in the church of San Marziale. It also features ongoing projects including The Miracle of the True Cross Cycle at the Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Mosaic Presbytery Floor in Santa Maria Assunta on Torcello, Tintoretto’s Crucifixion in the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, the Women Artists of Venice (WAV) Program, and the new campaign for the Room of the Four Doors in Palazzo Ducale. Special events including the Celebrating Carpaccio Weekend and Byzantine Ball are also featured.

2022/23 Newsletter

This year’s Newsletter enumerates the many reasons Save Venice has to celebrate in 2022. In the past year, Save Venice has completed some of its most iconic restorations including Titian’s Assunta, Vittore Carpaccio’s Saint George and the Dragon, and Gentile Bellini’s canvases from the True Cross Cycle. The organization also closed out its 50th Anniversary celebrations with the return of the annual Un Ballo in Maschera in New York City and our 50th Anniversary Gala in Venice.

2021/2022 Newsletter

Save Venice celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2021 with a look back at 50 years of conservation projects, educational initiatives, and events. Other highlights include the 50th Anniversary conservation campaigns for Torcello and the Italian Synagogue, the major campaigns for Vittore Carpaccio’s Narrative Cycle at the Scuola Dalmata and Titian’s Assunta in the Basilica dei Frari. This newsletter also features new projects including the recently launched Women Artists of Venice (WAV) program, and the True Cross Cycle at the Gallerie dell’Accademia with works by Gentile Bellini and Vittore Carpaccio.

2020/21 Newsletter

Save Venice celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2021 with milestone restorations at the basilica of Santa Maria Assunta on the island of Torcello and the Italian Synagogue in the Jewish Ghetto. Other highlights in this edition include the conservation of paintings by Vittore Carpaccio in the Scuola Dalmata, and work being done through the Immediate Response Fund for flood relief and preventive conservation.

2019/20 Newsletter

This year’s Newsletter highlights the scholars behind our work and introduces the newly-created Immediate Response Fund, the conservation projects for Save Venice’s upcoming 50th Anniversary in 2021, and recaps the many exciting accomplishments, events, and excursions that made for an incredible year.

Save Venice celebrates the 500th Anniversary of Jacopo Tintoretto’s birth and updates on projects and campaigns including Titian’s Assumption of the Virgin, the Saint Ursula Cycle, a restoration in collaboration with Venice in Peril on Torcello, and more.
