The Veneto

The Veneto region stretches from the Dolomite Mountains to the Adriatic Sea, and includes important cities like Verona, Vicenza, Padova, Belluno, and Treviso, with Venice as the regional capital. The Veneto was part of the powerful Venetian Republic for more than 1,000 years, between the 7th and 18th centuries. Some of the most influential Renaissance artists who worked in Venice were born in the mainland region, including Andrea Mantegna, Cima da Conegliano, Giorgione, Titian, Andrea Palladio, and Paolo Veronese just to name a few.
