New Digital Content Series: Stay Connected to Art, Venice, and Save Venice Restorations through Videos

Jul 21, 2020

During these unprecedented times, our Board and staff remain committed to bringing you meaningful enrichment content accessible from anywhere. We are excited to launch two new digital series  #SVPRESENTS and #SVFAVORITES featuring art and Save Venice restorations presented by our esteemed committee of experts including art historians, curators, conservation specialists and staff.

#SVPRESENTS features presentations by Save Venice experts on art historical research, exhibitions, educational initiatives, and updates on conservation projects. Members receive access in advance! The first lecture in the series Canova, Venice, and the Birth of Modern Sculpture was presented by C.D. Dickerson, Save Venice Board Member and head of sculpture and decorative arts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

#SVFAVORITES are short illustrated talks by Save Venice experts about their favorite restorations, past and present. The first video in the series features Christopher Apostle, Projects Committee Director of the Save Venice Board and Senior Vice President of Old Master Paintings at Sotheby’s New York, who explores one of his favorite current Save Venice projects—the Virgin Hodegetria Mosaic in the Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta on the Island of Torcello.

Follow us on Instagram, subscribe to our YouTube channel, or visit the new video page on our website to explore Save Venice’s digital offerings.
