Un Ballo in Maschera Raises More Than $1 Million for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Sep 28, 2018

Save Venice’s annual Un Ballo in Maschera raised more than $1 million to support the protection of at-risk art in Venice. Generously supported by sponsors Oscar de la Renta and Pomellato, and Chairs Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Stephanie & Chase Coleman, Poppy Delevingne Cook & James Cook, HRH Crown Prince Pavlos & Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, Amy & John Griffin, Lauren & Andres Santo Domingo, Caroline Sieber & Fritz von Westenholz, Bara & Alexander Tisch, Count & Countess Charles de Viel Castel, Annelise Peterson Winter & David S. Winter, the Splendori dell’Oriente-themed ball brought 400 supporters to New York’s Pierre Hotel on April 20 in their masks and finery.

The evening’s spectacular decor design, graciously donated by Bronson van Wyck, transported guests through a crossroads of world culture with a blending of east and west. Hand-painted Venetian sails and glowing Oriental gates framed the room. Towers of Chinoiseries pottery, Baroque Italian-inspired red flowers, brass globes, treasures, compasses and more transformed tables of blush colored silks, and the winged lion of Venice presided over cocktails.

Prizes for the evening’s best masks were generously donated by Oscar de la Renta, Pomellato, and Galliano Liquer and Bols Genever. Creative Directors of Oscar de la Renta, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, presented the prizes for Best Mask to Eglantine Zingg (Lady’s Award), Hunter Abrams (Gentleman’s Award), and Dr. Susan Krysiewicz and Thomas Bell (Couple’s Award). Music provided by DJ Ruckus kept guests dancing into the night.

Save Venice thanks all the chairs, sponsors, supporters, and everyone who helped make the night a magical success!
