Through the WAV research program, Save Venice is developing the Finding Women Artists of Venice database, which will be published online in Spring 2025. Thanks to the ongoing work of the WAV research team, the database will feature information on the 100 (and counting!) women artists and artisans that have been identified thus far who were born in or active in Venice in the early modern period. The creation of this public research portal has been made possible thanks to funding from Jill & Richard Almeida. The database will foster a better understanding of art-making and cultural production in the city and allow for more informed comparisons with other centers, in Italy and beyond.
