Art historian Monika Schmitter brings us into the rich world of 16th-century Venice through the life of Andrea Odoni. The subject of a sumptuous portrait by Lorenzo Lotto, Odoni amassed ancient sculptures, Renaissance paintings, and manuscripts. Professor Schmitter will discuss what Odoni’s collection tells us about the man and his passion, the palazzo in which he kept the collection, and the city that made such collecting possible.
Presented by Professor Monika Schmitter, Professor and Department Chair of History of Art and Architecture at University of Massachusetts Amherst.
