Professor Emeritus at Syracuse University, Romano is author of the widely acclaimed Venice: The Remarkable History of the Lagoon City (2024), hailed by the Economist as “a triumph” and praised by the Washington Post as “the best single-volume guide to [Venice’s] past.”
